About Us

Hello and thank you for visiting my webpage! My name is Mariah and I am the owner/operator of River City Rattery. I got my first rat when I was 10 years old and have loved them ever since. I forgot that for a while and when I purchased a pair to begin breeding for reptile feeders, I fell in love with them all over again! That is when I decided that I would begin breeding not only for feeders, but for pets as well. Breeding well tempered & healthy rats take a lot of knowledge and time and patience and I am still learning new things each and every day about this hobby.

When I am not spending time with my lovely ratties, I am an accountant and I also sing with a local LGBTQIA+ chorus here in Omaha. In addition to all of the ratties and mice, my husband and I also have dogs, cats, hedgehogs, snakes, frogs, fish, tarantulas, crested geckos, a tortoise, and a bearded dragon. It's basically a zoo in our household!

I am currently registered with the AFRMA and am located in Omaha, Ne. Currently I feed a Mazuri lab block along with a homemade mix & fresh fruits/veggies on occasion. None of our rats are housed in breeding racks, they are in Midwest Critter Nations in family units & are moved into bin cages when pregnant/nursing to give them their own private space.

All babies produced here are handled daily and we strive to only place rodents with good temperaments so they will make wonderful pets for you and your family and keep you coming back for more. Everyone knows that you can't stop at just two!
